More than 13 years have past since the protests that shook Syria in 2011, when the first cracks of the regime started to show. Today those cracks are wide open, and we witness a new Syria.
Omar Aziz was a revolutionary and anarchist who returned to Syria from exile in the early days of the Syrian revolution. Through his writing and activism he promoted local self-governance, horizontal organization, cooperation, solidarity and mutual aid as the means by which people could set themselves free from the tyranny of the state. He was captured and tortured to his death in the regime prisons, but his ideas remain alive.
On the 12th anniversary of his death, Solidaria is screening the documentary ”The War Show” 16th February at 16:00, showing experiences in the aftermath of 2011 in Syria. We will also read about Omar Aziz ideas.
